Bash the Trash, as its name implies, is all about building musical instruments from unusual materials. This could include just about anything, ranging from recycled junk to discarded stereo components to old children’s toys.

BTT has several rather stuffy missions which we approach in our usual irreverant way:

1. Educate children in the connections of sound and acoustics to science, math, literacy and cultural studies through the use of simple musical instruments

2. Promote environmental awareness through increased student participation in the three «R’s» – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

3. Sustain the reintegration of the Arts into our schools, especially as linked to the Core Curricula (science, math, literacy and cultural studies) through Staff Development, Artist Training and Teacher Training workshops
