[the instruments of the LOTR soundtracks]
The principle orchestras for the LOTR soundtrack were The London Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. I thought it might be interesting to provide some basic information on the ethnic or unusual instruments used in the Lord of the Rings movies. Well, unusual in the sense that they are not, perhaps, commonly known and are not commonly found in orchestras. The information found on this page was gathered from many different sites. Some required a lot of digging. A good resource for information about the use of instruments in the soundtrack can be found in articles about the LOTR symphonies.
