There is more music being written and recorded than ever before on the planet. At the same time, the quote-unquote «music industry» is acknowledged to be in terrible shape, teetering on the brink of some unnamed, untold catastrophe.

Put another way: the state of music itself has probably never been healthier, even as the state of the business of music has apparently never been worse.

I’ll leave it to the social philosophers, if there are any left, to figure out what it All Means. I’m here simply to note that the «industry» notwithstanding, there is an incredible amount of music out there to be discovered, and the medium of discovery, over the last half dozen years or so, has become the internet.
