2005 Theremin Original Composition Contest Rules
«One composition – five (5) minutes or less in length.
«If the composition includes lyrics, a lyric sheet is required with your submittal.
«A completed application; see attached.

1.Each composition submitted must be contestant’s original work. Compositions may not exceed five (5) minutes in length. Compositions may have multiple composers, but you must designate one name only on the application. Contestant may submit as many compositions as he/she wishes, but each entry requires a separate cassette, CD, or MP3 file, entry form, and lyric sheet (if necessary).
Please note: The composition contest is only open to compositions designed to be performed on a theremin.
(MOOG is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, postage due, stolen, or misappropriated entries.)
2.Five Prize Winners will receive free registration to the Ether Music 2005;
a $395 value.
3.One (1) of the Five Prize Winners will receive a Grand Prize of $1,000 cash price at the Festival.
4.Contest is open to amateur and professional composers above the age of 19. Employees of MOOG and The Orange Peel, their families, distributors, dealers, subsidiaries, and affiliates are not eligible.
5.Winners will be chosen by the following panel of judges: Dr. Wayne Kirby, University of North Carolina – Asheville Music Program Director, Herbert Deutsch, Dr. Albert Glinsky
Compositions will be judged based on melody, composition and lyrics (when applicable). The quality of performance and production will not be considered. Prizes will be awarded jointly to all authors of any composition: division of prizes is responsibility of winners. Void where prohibited. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations a
6.Winners will be notified by email and must sign and return an affidavit of eligibility/recording rights/publicity release within 14 days of notification date. The affidavit will state that winner’s composition is an original work and he/she holds all rights to composition. Failure to sign and return such affidavit within 14 days or provision of false/inaccurate information therein will result in immediate disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected. Affidavits subject to verification by The Orange Peel or its agents. Entry constitutes permission to use winner’s names, likenesses, and voices for future advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation by either The Orange Peel or Moog Music Inc.
8.CDs, cassettes, and lyrics will not be returned. Winners will be announced on September 1, 2005 on the websites www.ethermusic2005.com, www.moogmusic.com; www.theorangepeel.net;
9.Copyrights remains with composer(s). Artist(s) will be required to grant Moog Music and The Orange Peel a non-exclusive right to exploit for recordings on Moog Music / The Orange Peel websites, as a part of a compilation CD or other type of recording without additional compensation.
10.Composer(s) warrants the originality of all material.
