ShortMetraje, now in its third year, celebrates a provocative and vivid generation of filmmakers that have emerged with a unique perspective on modern Spain and its changing cultural landscape – a group set apart by their willingness to boldly push the limits of their country’s cinematic traditions. This year’s program consists of 14 films, most of them US premieres, selected from over 150 submissions. The Spanish short film industry is exploding, producing more than 350 films and holding over 100 short film festivals per year.
