MINI-BIO:
Born in 1959 in Frankfurt am Main, studied architecture at the College of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt and as a scholarship holder under Gustav Peichel at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. After working in the Stuttgart architect’s office of Behnisch and Partner, commenced as guest artist in Peter Weibel’s Institute for New Media in the Städel School in Frankfurt. In 1990 founded his own architect’s office and media laboratory in Frankfurt . From 1995 to 1997 he headed the ARCHIMEDIA Research Institute at the College of Design in Linz, Austria; from 1998 to 2000 he was a professor at the State College of Design in Karlsruhe, Germany; and since September 2001, he has joined the Department of Design | Media Arts at UCLA, Los Angeles, as a senior faculty.
