__EMF’s worldwide festival of music performed with laptops

This is an unusual festival. Hip Chips includes several events that EMF is producing in New York City with many other events that are happening, independent of EMF, throughout the world.

Our idea is to create a worldwide festival by documenting, in a single dedicated website, laptop performance events that take place throughout the world between February 10 and June 30, 2005. The documentation will include audio clips, images, descriptions of the events, and information on the participants and producers of the events.

We are doing this to recognize worldwide talent, to demonstrate the use of music technology to empower individual creativity, and to mark for all time this moment in our cultural history when new electronic instruments are emerging everywhere.
