Mapping the Soundscape at the University of Guelph
This website is a collaborative research project by the students in Professor Ellen Waterman’s course «UNIV 1200 Sound and the Environment» (winter 2003). Thirteen first year students in the Bachelor of Arts and Science degree program at the University of Guelph took part in this intensive seminar which examined the field of acoustic ecology through the ideas of Canadian writer, composer and sound researcher: R. Murray Schafer.
Together we set out to explore the sonic environment in which we live and work. We organized our work into six different group projects. You can follow the links from each project in order to hear sounds, see pictures, and find out information about sound and the environment.
