Visit City University London for two days of discussions, interviews, talks and presentations by musicians and composers working in film, media and digital music. Ask them about how they got to where they are today, what their work entails, and what advice they have for people starting out in music, media and the arts.
Day 1 on MUSIC AND THE MOVING IMAGE (with Screened Music Network) – hear from music licensing executives about how music is placed in advertisements, film and television, a panel discussion on MUSIC, MEDIA AND OPPORTUNITIES with composers Alex Heffes, Nina Humphreys, William Goodchild and Rob Lane, and a keynote interview with Patrick Doyle, renowned composer for Gosford Park, Nanny McPhee and Bridget Jones’ Diary.Day 2 on DIGITAL MUSIC AND MEDIA (with Sound and Music) – an interview with Chris Watson, musician and wildlife sound recordist, panel presentations on MAKING SOUND WORK with sound artists Scanner, Brains and Hunch, installation artist Helena Hunter and workshop leader Patrick Furness, and a presentation by multimedia production company and VJs, The Light Surgeons.
On both days, open discussion, and a change to chat informally over a glass of wine.
