SONOIMAGENES 2010 – CALL FOR WORKS
The National University of Lanús – UNLa (Argentina) presents the 10 th Edition of the International Acousmatic and Multimedia Festival “Sonoimágenes” that will take place in Buenos Aires on September 1st – 3rd 2009.
“Sonoimágenes” offers a showcase of outstanding works in the acousmatic, mixed-interactive live electronics and audiovisual composition fields.
“Sonoimágenes” calls for works to be considered for the 2010 edition, that should fit into one of the following Categories:
a. Acousmatic works: sound art compositions for recorded media alone, for two, four, eight or 5.1 channels. Acousmatic compositions on DVD 5.1 are very specially welcome for this edition. (In all cases please check the details of accepted supports in the section “Elements to be included”).
b. Audiovisual compositions: audiovisual works on media where sound and image narratives should have equal relevance or importance (Check the details of accepted supports in the section “Elements to be included”)
c. Live Performances involving technology: such as mixed works with acoustic instrument(s) or electroacoustic devices and recorded media, interactive mixed works, real time processing or live electronics, live electroacoustic improvisation, or any of those plus video, in all cases with a maximum of two performers. (Check the details of accepted supports in the section “Elements to be included”)
Duration:
All works must have a duration between four [4] minutes (minimum) and twelve [12] minutes (maximum) and must have been created after January 2004.
Composers and realizers may submit only one work, in only one Category. Therefore the submission implies also a Category option. All the selected works will be featured in the Audiovisual Concerts during the Festival.
Available technology for the Audiovisual Concerts, provided by the Festival:
For the Audiovisual Concerts, the Festival will provide the following technology:
Multichannel loudspeaker system with up to eight sends console that may be configured as a 5.1, octophonic or quadraphonic channels.
A PC computer for multichannel sessions, with a multichannel sound card.
DVD Player AC3/DTS and stereo compatible for acousmatic 5.1 pieces and videos.
Audio-CD, 44.1 KHz 16 bit for stereo pieces.

Elements to be included:
a. Submission Form
The Submission Form can be downloaded from www.sonoimagenes.netfirms.com
The Form must be filled in and sent by email to sonoimagenes@yahoo.com.ar at the same time the submitted work is sent through the post. The Artistic Direction will check that every submitted work has its correspondent electronic Submission Form. Proposals received without electronic submission forms will not be considered.
(Please don’t print and send the Form through the post, it must be sent by email to the indicated address).
The Form includes a short biography and programme notes (up to 200 words maximum each), a detail of the technology involved as well as all necessary contact information (postal address, email address, phone number).
The Artistic Direction of “Sonoimágenes” will publish the whole 2010 Festival programme on the Sonoimágenes Web Site, thus all biographies and programme notes in excess of the maximum words will be truncated, and all incomplete submissions will not be considered.
b. Proposals / Categoríes
For submissions corresponding to Category a. the author must send one of the following media:
– two channel works: Audio-CD
– 5.1 channels works: DVD Video in DTS or AC3 format (or both; in such case included on the same DVD).
– four or eight channels works: Data CD-ROM or DVD-ROM including one file for each audio track inWAV or AIFF formats 44,1 Khz or 48 Khz and 16, 20 o 24 bits.
Works received in other formats or media will not be considered.
For submissions corresponding to Category b. the author must send one of the following media:
DVD-R or DVD+R with audio track in PCM stereo 48 Khz, PAL or NTSC.
For works corresponding to Category c. the author must send one of the following media:
– For the case of mixed electroacoustic works with instrument(s): Full score, a recorded version of the work, and a recording of the electroacoustic solo part on CD (if applicable).
– For the case of any other live performances involving technology the composer must provide all the necessary indications and technological devices needed for performance.
– For the case of live performance including video, the recorded version of the work should be sent in DVD-video.
For Category c. if the work is selected the attendance of the composer(s) and/or realizer(s) is needed according to the following rule.
c. General Conditions regarding attendance and travel expenses.
Unluckily Sonoimágenes has no budget for travel tickets or accomodation.
For programme reasons, all works submitted for Category c. will need the presence of the composer/realizer who will be in charge of the rehearsals and the perfomance of the work, and will also have to provide all devices needed, as well as all the the instruments and the necessary performer(s).
Results:
The authors of the selected works will be notified by email. The final programme will be uploaded to the Sonoimágenes web site about 30 days before the Festival.
All submissions received in the Sonoimágenes Festival will be kept at the University mediatheque.
